Federica Brignone is an Italian ski racer born in Milan, Lombardy. Her mother is Maria Rosa Quario, a former World Cup racer in the early 1980s, who had 4 World Cup wins and 15 podiums, all in slalom.
Brignone made her World Cup debut in December 2007 at age 17, and her first full season on the World Cup circuit was in 2010. At her first World Championships in 2011, Brignone won the silver medal in the giant slalom. At St. Moritz 2017, she wasn't able to grab a medal, but earned three Top results with a 4th place in Giant Slalom, a 7th place in Alpine Combined and an 8th place in Super-G.
Her 16 World Cup podiums mainly come in her favourite discipline the Giant Slalom (12), but she proved to be fast in Super-G as well and was able to claim her first Alpine Combined win in Crans-Montana last week.
