  •  Ivica Kostelić was born on November 23rd, 1979 in Zagreb, Croatia. And just like his younger sister Janica, he was also from an early age part of a "family ski project" led by his father Ante. As a junior ski racer Ivica made his best Junior World Ski Championships result by reaching 10th place in slalom, in Schladming (AUT) 1997. And his first World Cup start Ivica has made one year later at giant slalom in Sölden (AUT). Ivica's big "break-through" season was season 2001/02. After winning an Aspen (USA) FIS World Cup slalom race starting with a start number 64 (!), he went on to three slalom World Cup victories with three more winners' podium placings to secure his first slalom small Crystal Globe. At the FIS World Ski Championships in St. Moritz (SUI) 2003 slalom was totally dominated by Kostelić siblings with Janica Kostelić becoming female, and Ivica becoming male slalom world champion. Ivica came as slalom 2nd also in Olympic Winter Games slalom race in Vancouver (CAN) 2010, where he also took an olympic silver medal in Super Combined. And one more olympic silver medal Ivica Kostelić has also in Combined from the Olympic Winter Games Torino (ITA) 2006. After being thorugh years troubled by some serious knee injuries, "crown" of his alpine racing career has for Ivica Kostelić certainly come in the season 2010/11 when Ivica was able to take the titles of overall, slalom and (Super) Combined FIS World Cup winner. In terms of FIS World Cup victories Ivica Kostelić has already crossed the mark of 25, with number of his FIS World Cup winners' podium placings being well over the number 50.

The Russian answers: I'm in Sibiria, -60°C, I go to sleep, the guard-room is -40°C.
