Val d’Isère, France - The organizing committee and more than 1000 volunteers worked really hard days and nights to make everything ready for the ladies to have the best conditions possible for today’s first DH training. Beautiful and freezing weather welcomed the racers  on the famous “OK” ski slope.

Autrsia’s Anna Fenninger, who has never won a DH in her career yet,  finished first in front of USA’s Julia Mancuso, only 0.03 second behind.
Tina Maze confirms her excellent shape, finishing 4th of today’s training. She even confessed how new it was for her to be fast in DH and how good it feels. The “speed Queen” Lindsey Vonn came 10th, 1.34 seconds  behind. The struggle for victory on race day looks very promising.

The snow conditions are surprisingly good after the heavy snowfalls of last week, according to the Race director. The snow a bit soft but the base is really good. The slip crews are doing a great job. As for the weather for the rest of the week, the forecast looks now better for Friday and should enable the athletes to have a fair and exciting race.

Second training tomorrow will take place at 10:45.

Here are today’s results.
