Anne-Sophie Barthet suffers shoulder injury
An unfortunate fall two gates before the finish line of the Ofterschwang Slalom forced French skier Anne-Sophie Barthet to end her season early. Barthet wrote on her web page that she fell on her shoulder and head and fainted for one minute. She was taken to the hospital in Immenstad and spent there 24 hours in evaluation.
After being released from the hospital she returned to France to undergo additional tests on the injured shoulder. The diagnosis came in the form of a fracture of the greater tuberosity which in Barthet’s case will not need to be fixed by a surgery but the recovery time will force the French skier to sit out of her National Championships in Peyragudes.
“In the meantime, I’ll attack the recovery with my super physio Benedict Hennart in Toulouse!” The always-optimistic skier wrote before thanking everyone for the messages of support.
