Austrian Ski Federation reduces men's squad side
The Austria Alpine men's team has been cut from 16 to 13 skiers for next season.
The Austrian ski federation revealed that Christoph Gruber, Hannes Reichelt and Georg Streitberger would not be part of the elite team in what will be an Olympic year.
All three failed to find great success last season although Reichelt recorded a third-place finish in a giant slalom in Alta Badia, Italy.
The A-squad is now thus:
BAUMANN Romed, BUDER Andreas, GRUGGER Hans, HERBST Reinfried, HIRSCHER Marcel, KRÖLL Klau, MAIER Hermann, MATT Mario, PRANGER Manfred, RAICH Benjamin, SCHEIBER Mario, SCHÖNFELDER Rainer, SCHÖRGHOFER Philipp, WALCHHOFER Michael.
Both Buder and Grugger have been included after their long injury problems last season.
As for the ladies squad there have been no major changes with all the big names present, including Renate Goetschl, who it seems has put off retirement for another season, although no offical statement has been issued from the skier.
The A-squad for the ladies is: FENNINGER Anna, FISCHBACHER Andrea, GÖRGL Elisabeth, GÖTSCHL Renate, HOLAUS Maria, HOSP Nicole, KIRCHGASSER Michaela, SCHILD Marlies, ZETTEL Katrin.
