Beat Feuz returns home early - UPDATED
Overall FIS World Cup runner-up Beat Feuz has decided to return home early from the training camp in Ushuaia (ARG). After he crashed in giant slalom training, Feuz has felt pain in his left knee that was operated in the spring.
It was not possible to make a proper diagnosis on site which is why 25-year-old Feuz is returning back to Switzerland as fast as possible to allow for a proper examination.
Just before the South American camp in early August, Feuz was training on the glacier in Swiss Zermatt where he could train according to the plan.
The examinations in Bern showed that Beat Feuz was lucky and only suffered a bone bruise in his left knee, rather than anything more severe. This bruise is painful but does not impact the joint. In a good case, Beat Feuz should be able to restart with skiing in 3-4 weeks. The initial plan foresees rehab and recovery however.
Beat Feuz commented:"I am happy that it's nothing severe and remain optimistic for the coming season. I had some good training days in South America and also good tests with interesting results with the new equipment. That makes me feel confident that I will make up for the lost time."
