Ski Sport Finland has chosen Christian Brüesch as the new head coach for the Finnish ladies team. Brüesch will begin his new job on 1st June and will also be on site at the Finnish nationals in Levi the coming weekend.

Brüesch is Swiss and has most recently worked as recovery coach for Swiss-Ski while also working for Heval, a company run by Michael Bont that operates in the field of racing and safety equipment. He was previously the Swiss head coach for the European Cup ladies' team in season 2010/11 and coached the World Cup ladies group II from 2008-2010. From 2004-2008 he was the speed coach for the Swiss-Ski ladies' European Cup team. Brüesch has also done a stint in Colorado (USA) from 2002-2004 and coached at various regional levels within Switzerland beginning in 1993.

The Finnish ladies' team was coached by Italian Christian Thoma for two seasons from 2010/11. His contract ended at the World Cup Finals in Schladming.

"The ladies team has not quite brought the expected results and in a team with one main athlete the best way to seek change is to change the coaching team. Our goal is to be successful in the upcoming World Championships and Olympic Games and return to the level in World Cup what we had in the best years," commented Ski Sport Finland CEO Janne Leskinen.
