On Friday, 23 April 2010, the Swiss Sports Aid Foundation awarded the youth price of 2009 at Castle Lenzburg. This year, the most important award in the Swiss sport scene for the youngsters went to the Swiss ski racer Denise Feierabend.

With Feierabend the Swiss Sports Aid Foundation selected an emerging talent as 'junior athlete of the year' in the festive atmosphere of the Knights' Hall at Schloss Lenzburg.

To honor this event, celebrity guests, including the president of the National Council Pascale Bruderer and Robbie Federer made an appearance in the evening.

The 21-year-old junior slalom World Champion Feierabend from Engelberg defeated her competitors and won against the quintet Katherine Choong (climbing), Michelle Hediger (MTB), Léa Sprunger (athletics), Karin Stingelin (wrestling) and Julie Zogg (snowboard). The candidates had been nominated in advance by Swiss Olympic.

For the first time the election result was only known in the evening. Denise was selected by a jury consisting of various sports editors and the surprise was huge when she was called to receive the certificate and the winner's check from the hands of figure skating legend Denise Biellmann.

Her Junior World Championship title in slalom in 2009 was now honored with this special price, a big incentive for the winter season 2010/11.
