Deville, Byggmark and Gross re-sign with Völkl
Four of world's top ten slalom specialists ski Völkl – and following the season finals in Schladming three of them announced that they would be extending their cooperation with their German ski maker: Cristian Deville, Jens Byggmark and Stefano Gross will also be seen on Völkl gear in the future up until the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi. Manfred Pranger, the Austrian world slalom champion from 2009 and fourth member in the quartet of ultra-quick Völkl gents, renewed his sponsorship deal with Völkl beyond 2012 last year already.
Cristian Deville comments: "The equipment from Völkl simply suits me and my style perfectly. And the other factors are a fit as well – from ski development to the service team. Last season we worked intensely to find a configuration that ultimately brought me my first win, three trips to the podium and the most successful season I've ever had. I want to continue building on what we've accomplished."
Jens Byggmark stated: "I feel very much at ease in the Völkl family. My second place finish in the slalom at Garmisch-Partenkirchen last year owes no small debt to the equipment from Straubing I was using. Next season I want to get back on the at-tack with the Racetiger."
Stefano Gross added: "With three podium finishes, this was far and away my best sea-son since I joined the World Cup. Now I'm just looking for my first victory, and I plan on claiming it skiing Völkl. I'm really comfortable with the equipment and the atmosphere in the team is a good match too – you couldn't ask for more."
Völkl Racing Director Klaus Gattermann also welcomed the contract extensions: "Cristian, Jens and Stefano stand together with Manni as the pillars of what is a very strong men's slalom squad for us. I'm very happy that we're going to be able to keep building on our success with them. Over the years Christian has matured into a top athlete with Völkl, and this past season he really got to enjoy the fruits of his labor for the first time. After switching to us in 2009, Jens has continually im-proved his performance. I'm certain that we're going to have many more wonderful moments with him. The same is true for Stefano: He's a world class skier and just needs to rack up that first victory to unleash the flood gates."
