Dominique Gisin injures knee - out for season! UPDATED

16 January 2012 16:25

Dominique Gisin sustained a tear in her left meniscus in Friday's downhill training in Cortina d'Ampezzo. She returned back to Switzerland after the race on Saturday and was examined in the Rennbahnklinik in Muttenz by Dr. Lukas Weisskopf. The diagnosis included a tear in the inner meniscus, a slight injury to the cartilage and a streched collateral ligament.

Dominique Gisin will be operated arthroscopically on Tuesday morning and will not be able to train or race for next several weeks.

UPDATE: During the operation on Tuesday it turned out that there was more damage than anticipate to the cartilage and a part of the meniscus had to be removed which means that Dominique is out for at least three months. The 2011/2012 season is hence over for her.  We look forward to seeing Dominique back for the 2012/2013 season!
