The tallest woman in alpine skiing has been signed by Marker Volkl: Fanny Chmelar (GER). At just over six feet tall, she towers above her fellow athletes in stature, while also becoming a growing presence on the scene.

During the last season, the 24-year-old from Garmisch-Partenkirchen managed to establish herself as one of the best slalom skiers in the world. In 2010 alone she finished in the top ten for the World Cup three times.

By switching to the German ski brand, Fanny Chmelar is setting her sights on her next career goals. "The Volkl Racetiger is exactly the right ski to ride into my first World Cup win! In the test runs I immediately had a great feeling about them. And the support of my team and the general atmosphere convinced me too: highly professional and yet like family", said Chmelar.

Volkl Race Manager Klaus Gattermann is also happy about the prominent German addition to the team: "In the World Cup final in Garmisch-Partenkirchen she showed what she was made of when she finished in fourth place, a great omen for the World Ski Championships, which will take place in 2011 at the same location (GAP2011.com). It will be like a home game for her as an athlete and for us too, as the only German ski manufacturer. A promising duo ‘Made in Germany'!".
