The new Swiss ladies‘ head coach Hans Flatscher has appointed his group coaches. Instead of the previous three groups, there will be only two main training groups, speed and tech. The speed group will be led by Lugano-based Daniele Petrini who previously coached one of the two speed groups including Fabienne Suter and Nadja Kamer. The other speed group coach Stefan Abplanalp was released from his duties already at the end of February and has since joined the Norwegian ladies speed team which in the upcoming season will cooperate with some of the Swedish speed racers.

The new tech group coach will be 51-year-old South Tyrolean Alois Prenn who will succeed the Frenchman Lionel Finance who led the tech team for the past two seasons. Prenn previously worked with the Swedish men including the speed specialist Hans Olsson; altogether Prenn worked for the Swedes for seven seasons. His background is more on the technical side however and he has also coached technical teams on the World Cup level in Germany and Italy. Altogether Prenn has 30 years of coaching experience.

Flatscher commented: “Alois Prenn is the right coach to bring our young team to the top. He has extensive experience, great social competence and will provide the team with the necessary confidence so that the tech team will be in a position to make a step forward.”

Finance, who vacates his position, said: ”I had a lot of fun working with the Swiss team and I would have liked to continue the work towards our goals. But I can understand that that the change on top also impacts the composition of the coaching team and wish the Swiss-Ski athletes and the coaches all the best for the future.”
