Injury updates Kitzbuehel
During Saturday's downhill on the impressive Streif in Kitzbuehel, three athletes were injured. Here is a short update on their medical condition:
Aksel Lund Svindal
Detailed checking in Innsbruck showed that the Overall World Cup leader torn his right knee's ACL and underwent surgery in Innsbruck on Saturday. Svindal will be out for the rest of the season.
The 11-time World Cup winner and World Champion suffered a severe bone bruise on his left leg. Because of this injury, the Austrian is now uncertain for Garmisch-Partenkirchen, but is expected to be back in 2-3 weeks.
The 35 year-old skier from Saalbach suffered a season-ending torn ACL and underwent surgery immediately on Saturday.
Already during the two training days, two Austrian athletes suffered injuries:
The 28 year-old racer from Tyrol suffered a season-ending torn ACL and meniscus. He underwent surgery in Hochrum on Thursday.
The 26 year-old racer from Weißbriach - Kärnten suffered a season-ending ligament injury to his left knee in addition to injuring his left hand. He underwent surgery on Tuesday.
