Italian giant slalom specialist Denise Karbon has injured herself in a training crash in Madesimo (ITA) this week. The 30-year-old hurt the meniscus in her right knee and has to be operated. She will need to take a training break of a month approximately to recover. The ladies' giant slalom World Cup champion from 2008, when she won five events in a row, has been set back by a series of injuries in the last seasons. She will be operated in Bressanova (ITA).

Karbon failed to finish the season opening race in Sölden after having been 6th after the first run. The next GS on the ladies calendar will take place on 27th November in Aspen (USA), followed by another in St Moritz (SUI) on 12th December.
