Another fantastic winter day at the Hahnenkamm races in Kitzbuehel, with blue sky and temperature way below freezing point (-15°C this morning). The second and last downhill training saw 75 athletes from 14 nations skiing down the Streif and making the last adjustments before the races starting tomorrow.

With bib number 1, younggun Aleksander Aamodt Kilde laid down the fastest time in today’s second training. The Norwegian, who was sick in Wengen and couldn’t ski at his best level, is back in a great shape and is looking forward to switch to race mode from tomorrow on.

“Today I had a good run from the Steilhang until the bottom. The top part is extremely icy and I was a little surprised. It was better than yesterday, so let’s see what comes out on Saturday”

In second position, Austria’s Hannes Reichelt crossed the finish line +0.02 off Kilde’s pace. The Super-G Wolrd Champion has good and bad memories on the Streif, as he won the downhill in 2014 but crashed heavily at the infamous Hausbergkante last year.

Kjetil Jansurd, dominator of this super-g season and winner of the downhill in Val d’Isère, 16th of yesterday’s training, made some adjustments and finished only +0.07 behind his teammate Kilde.

The tight training results promise exciting races to come, both on Friday for the super-g and on Saturday for the downhill. On Sunday, the tech guys will take over the Ganslerhang and compete in a slalom.
