Resi Stiegler, who sustained a knee injury in the Nations Team Event in Schladming on Friday, 16th March, has confirmed that she will be operated on her left ACL and meniscus back home in the USA on Tuesday. For Stiegler, operations are nothing new, given the number of injuries she has sustained in the previous several years forcing her to practically miss three seasons. Stiegler recorded the best result of her career in Ofterschwang with the 2nd place in the slalom in March.

Michaela Kirchgasser was operated on cartilage of her right knee on Tuesday. The injury is the same that forced Kirchgasser to take a break of several weeks after the Zagreb slalom due to severe pain. The arthroscopic operation took place in Innsbruck and went well. She was able to leave to hospital Wednesday and will begin with the physiotherapy immediately.

“I am happy that my 30‘000 service went so well,“ joked the 27-year-old after the operation. ”I have no pain and it was good that we could select the timing ourselves. I will begin to ride the bike in 10 days and then after three weeks with light strength training.” Kirchgasser will be able to join the on-snow training normally after the summer months.
