Lindsey Vonn is back on skis: "I honestly can’t tell which knee was injured"
Seven months after injuring her knee during an ugly crash at the World Championships in Schladming, Lindsey Vonn is finally back on snow!
Looks like all the hard work and dedication to rehab paid off for Vonn as she was cleared to fly to Portillo, Chile and test her knee on snow. USSA posted a YouTube video showing Vonn’s first turns on skis since injuring the knee.
A smiling Vonn explains that it doesn’t feel as if it has been seven months already and adds that this just seemed like the right time to get back on skis, that her body felt ready.
“My knee is not swollen, it didn’t hurt at all, I didn’t feel anything and I honestly can’t tell which knee was injured,” she said.
Vonn’s was excited and had absolutely no fear about getting back on snow while her doctors and coaches were slightly uneasy with her return on skis. This comes no wonder when you know it’s their job convincing to go slow someone who makes her living because she tends to be the fastest out there.
“I usually go from zero to 100, I’m not good in-between so this is going to be a challenge. My coach had to calm me down, I wanted to go straight right away,” she explains in the video.
