One of Austria's talented young athletes, ÖSV hopeful Carmen Thalmann will be out for at least six months. The 20-year-old Carinthian tore her cruciate ligament playing football and suffered a meniscal tear in her right knee.

Barely a month ago Carmen Thalmann was very happy about her Austrian Championship title in the super combined event. Now the slalom specialist will not be able to race for at least six months after having torn her ligament.

Carmen Thalmann was operated successfully in the private clinic of Dr. Christian Hoser Hochrum and is again in good spirits. "An injury is never good, but it's still pretty early in the preparation," the slalom specialist said, who finished third in the slalom overall standings of the European Cup last season.

The 20-year-old Thalmann took third behind team-mate Bernadette Schild and Emelie Wikström (SWE) and thus secured herself a fix World Cup starting place for the winter 2010/2011.
