Austrian Maria Holaus had the fastest time in Tuesday's first downhill training on a sun-soaked day at Lake Louise prior to Friday's ladies Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup season opening downhill. Holaus led an Austrian charge and Elena Fanchini looks primed for her return as they posted the fastest two times on Tuesday. Nadia Styger of Switzerland finished third in cold but soft conditions after the heavy snowfall in the days before.
Austria delivered a strong performance as three skiers finished in the top seven. Defending FIS World Cup DH champion Lindsay Vonn of the USA was 8th, although she let up well before the finish line.

The second training run takes place on Wednesday. The first two downhills of the season will be held on Friday and Saturday with a super-G scheduled for Sunday.
