Marlies Schild fell during a pre-race prep training on Thursday morning in Are (SWE) and hurt her right knee. Schild is going to be travelling back home to Austria this afternoon to have additional examinations done in Innsbruck as soon as possible. As a result the Salzburg resident will not start in the slalom this afternoon in Are.

"I hit a roll and caught some air, landing on my back. My ski also got caught while crahsing and I feel pain in my right knee and back at the moment," said Marlies Schild after her crash.

"Marlies had already done some training runs, and was skiing well. In comparison to her training partners she'd shown how well in form she is. After her cold she was again ready to attack,“ said ladies' head coach Herbert Mandl.

UPDATE: Marlies Schild underwent an MRI in Austria Friday morning and the analysis of the results revealed a tear of the MCL in her right knee. She will be operated during the day and is expected to fall out for some 3 months.
