Prize money record for Tina Maze: 701'797 CHF
With 11 wins and 24 podium finishes in the season that just ended, Tina Maze topped by far the prize money rankings. Apart from breaking Herman Maier’s record 2000 points in a single season, the Slovenian also broke the Austrian’s record prize money earnings. In 2000 Maier stood on the podium 22 times, earning 660'000 Swiss Francs but Maze did even better, taking home a total of 701'797 CHF this season.
Until this year Croatian Janica Kostelic held the biggest earnings record on the ladies’ side. The all-round skier earned a total of 561'646 CHF in 2006.
The only other skier that earned over half a million CHF this year was Marcel Hirscher. His 6 wins and 18 podium finishes were worth 535'940 CHF in prize money earnings. No other skier cracked the 300’000 CHF mark this season but the closest to that number was Aksel Lund Svindal. The Norwegian finished second in the prize money rankings, earning 299'053 CHF ahead of Ted Ligety and Felix Neureuther who earned 269'956 and 253'185 CHF respectievly.
On the ladies’ side Anna Fenninger achieved the second highest earnings of the season, earning a total of 233'070 CHF. The Austrian also achieved the sixth highest earnings on both the ladies and men’s side.
A total of 81 ladies and 110 men earned prize money during the 2012/2013 season, with young Elia Zurbriggen earning the lowest amount. The 1990 born Swiss skier earned a symbolic 121 CHF with his 28th place in Kranjska Gora.
