A second Austrian racer has had to leave Lake Louise early. After Mario Scheiber, Stephan Görgl too had to return home to Austria from Canada early, already before the races in Lake Louise and Beaver Creek. Görgl has been struggling with back problems since last week. After consultation with team doctor Helmuth Eggl and head coach Mathias Berthold the 33-year-old racer decided to travel home already on Thursday to have a more detailed check at home in Innsbruck.

"As frustrating as it is to have to return home early, my health is important for me. Discussions with the doctors made it clear that a proper medical check is the right way to go right now. We now need to decide on the correct next steps to get rid of the pain as soon as posisble. The situation is not easy to handle. But I am in no shape to race right now,“ said Görgl.
