Susanne Riesch undergoes additional knee surgery
After three years away from racing, Susanne Riesch suffered an additional setback after falling during training in Levi last Wednesday. The German hurt the meniscus in her left knee and has already been successfully operated on Monday at the Orthopädischen Chirurgie München (OCM). The surgery will keep her off training for some three weeks according to a first prognosis.
DSV team physician Dr. Ernst -Otto Münch diagnosed an ossification in the lateral meniscus of the left knee what called for the arthroscopic surgery during which a part of the lateral meniscus was removed.
" The operation went well and was necessary, due to the constant pain under stress," Dr. Ernst -Otto Münch said after the procedure. " Assuming a favorable course of healing, a training on snow will be possible again in about three weeks."
After surgery, Susanne Riesch was her usual combative self : "The OP was important we could be sure that I can put full pressure on my knee and ski pain-free again. My goal is to be back to the start in Courchevel."
We wish Susanne a quick recovery and hope to see her back for good in a few weeks!
