As Susanne Riesch crashed while speed training in September in Chillan (CHI), she already knew that her season would be over. A fracture in her left tibia, a tear in the ACL and injury to the meniscus did not just require three operations but also an especially intensive stationary rehab. For Susanne Riesch the first and only choice for her rehab was the Medical Park Bad Wiessee St. Hubertus where she already successfully recovered from a previous ACL in 2005.

At that time a three-week stay was sufficient - now more patience is required. Given the severity of her injuries and the fact that she could not begin her rehab in between the operations, Riesch will need to stay for eight weeks this time around

Of course it's a major disappointment for Susanne Riesch that she can only watch the season's racing on TV but she is going to work on her patience. take her time and not hurry to get back on the skis. After the first few weeks of rehab under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Thomas Horstmann, which mostly focused on osteopathy, she is now beginning to think about strength training and muscles. Christmas and New Year's she plans to stay at home and is excited to see her team and her racer friends on 28th-29th December in Lienz, before she returns to Clinic Medical Park Bad Wiessee St. Hubertus.

Susanne Riesch expects to require eight months to recover fully from her injury and plans to get back on top of her game for the ski season 2012/13.
