Truls Ove Karlsen retires

37-year-old Norwegian tech specialist Truls Ove Karlsen has announced retirement from racing after Schladming. On his Facebook page he thanks all his supporters, including his parents and his coach Øyvind Rognmo and teammates Aksel Lund Svindal, Kjetil Jansrud and Lars Elton Myhre.

Karlsen debuted in the World Cup in October 2001 in Sölden. In the 143 World Cup career starts his best results were a victory in a KO slalom in Sestriere in December 2002 and a third place finish in the slalom in Kranjska Gora in February 2004. His best seasons were in 2003 and 2004 when he finished 8th in the slalom season rankings. In the World Ski Championships his best result was the 6th place in the GS in Are (SWE) in 2007 followed by the 7th place in the slalom also in Are. In the current season Truls Ove's best result has been the 16th place in the GS in Val d'Isère (FRA) in December 2012.
