Velez-Zuzulova ruled out for the entire season !
After tearing her ACL on left knee in a crash while training in Hintertux (AUT) last october, Veronika Velez Zuzlova and her team thought she could eventually be back on the Audi FIS Ski World Cup in Courchevel on December 17 for the slalom race.
Unfortunately for her, things haven't gone according to plan and decision was taken to undergo surgery. “Rehab went well and after some very intense physical training she was able to get back on skis for some free skiing”, stated Roman Velez, her coach and husband. “However once back in racing mode on the training hill, her knee didn't hold.”
The Slovakian will undergo surgery in Lyon on January 2 or earlier if possible.
Veronika Velez Zuzulova got her first World Cup victory last December in Semmering, Austria, and also won the parallel racing event in Munich. She finished third in the World Cup slalom standings last season and was a medal contender for the slalom title at the Sochi Olympics.
We wish Veronika a quick recovery and hope to see her back next year stronger than ever!
