  • START OF THE SPORTING CAREER

    • Charlotte Kalla started skiing at the age 7 when her grandpa took her to a local ski club in the home town of Tarendö. “Cross-Country skiing appealed to me since the first moment,” Kalla said.
    • Kalla also played basketball at a very good level
    • She decided to study at the ski high school in Gällivare

    CAREER

    • Charlotte Kalla appeared at the international level at the FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Kranj in 2006
    • She claimed Junior World Champion title in skiathlon, took the bronze medal in 5 km classic and finished fourth in sprint
    • At the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo in 2007 the young Swede claimed best result, 5th place in 10 km free
    • In the following season first World Cup podium came along
    • In the season opener in Beitostoelen Kalla claimed third place in 10 km free
    • One of Charlotte Kalla’s highlights happened in 2008 as she won the FIS Tour de Ski
    • At the World Championships in Liberec in 2009 she finished third in relay and sixth in sprint
    • Charlotte Kalla’s greatest success came in 2010 at the Winter Olympics where she became the Olympic Champion in the 10 km Free and took the silver medal in team sprint with Anna Haag
    • At the World Championships in Oslo in 2011, Kalla claimed victory together with Ida Ingemarsdotter in team sprint and took the silver medal in relay
    • At the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme 2013 Charlotte Kalla claimed with her teammates silver medal in the 4x5 km relay and silver medal in the team sprint free 

    NATIONAL FIRSTS

    • Charlotte Kalla won the first individual medal at Olympic Games for Sweden since Toni Gustafsson in 1968. Her motto is: “Do what you want and like what you do”
    • Jerring award 2008, best female athlete of 2010, Sixten Jernberg Award 2007

    PERSONAL

    • Kalla’s parents, mum Lena, dad Per-Erik have three daughters, Charlotte (born 1987), Cecilia (born 1989) and Christelle (born 1991)
    • Kalla is strong in orienteering as well. In the summer 2010 she competed in O-Ringen (previously called the “Swedish 5 days”), which is an orienteering competition that takes place annually in different areas of Sweden with participants from all over the world. Kalla competed in two stages of the event and scored one first and one second place
    • She has lived in Sundsvall with her boyfriend Anders. “I’m living my dream having the privilege to do full time the sport,” Kalla says.
    • Her hobbies are family and friends and to be out in nature
