Val di Fiemme (Tour de Ski)

Val di Fiemme (Tour de Ski)
Comitato per la Promozione dello sci in Val di Fiemme (TNH1) Via Regolani 38033 Cavalese TN

Val di Fiemme is surrounded by two natural parks and stunning Dolomite peaks, that Unesco declared World Heritage Site - Corno Bianco, dominating the South-Tyrolean canyon of Bletterbach, Mountain group of Latemar, with its incredible tops, and the park Paneveggio Pale di San Martino.

Fiemme is famous for being “The Valley of Harmony” thanks to the prestigious resonance trees used to realize sounding boards for pianos and violins, once appreciated by Stradivari and nowadays still wanted by internationally-famous luthiers.

For this valley breathing the oxygen produced by 60 million trees (a survey says that there are 20 trees per tourist) is not enough. Over a third of the twenty thousand inhabitants are using heat or electricity from alternative renewable sources. Fiemme, is the leading Italian resort in waste collection. In 2003 Fiemme was the first valley to eco-certify its forests, carefully managed by the thousand-year old institution, the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme, organizing the first Eco-certified Nordic World Ski Championships. Since then, Fiemme has been planning and promoting eco-sustainable events, empowering the use of bikes, car-free days and giving the possibility of living environmental-friendly holidays.

With more than 110 kilometres of ski slopes, immerge yourself in the natural paradise of the Ski Center Latemar, down the 50 km of slopes connecting Pampeago, Predazzo and Obereggen. In the Bellamonte-Alpe Lusia skiarea, the ski slopes caress the boundaries of the Natural Park of Paneveggio Pale di S. Martino. The slopes at Passo Rolle lie in the fabulous reign of the majestic Pale di S. Martino. From Skiarea Alpe Cermis - the home of the longest slope of the valley, the 7.5-km-long Olimpia.

Another wonderful place where you can get captivated by the dawn and sunset colors reflecting on the limestone mountains at Passo di Lavazé-Oclini, the place where downhill meets cross country skiing.
The Cross Country Stadium of Lago di Tesero, illuminated by night, boasts groundbreaking facilities, the perfect place to live the emotion of skiing on the World Championships 1991, 2003 and 2013 tracks.

For more than 50 years the trails in Lago di Tesero have been a great place for practicing cross-country skiing. Its enviable position and its consolidated experience in artificial snow production, also thanks to a cutting-edge system, guarantee perfect tracks. For this reason the centre is open from December to the middle of March, despite it is located only 850 m above sea level.

The stadium, site of the 1991, 2003 and 2013 Nordic World Championships, offers a great variety of tracks. There can be some changes in the tracks, but they are mostly challenging and quite difficult. However the connection to the Marcialonga track guarantees more than 8 kms of easy slopes, mainly flat, in both directions, to Predazzo and to Molina di Fiemme.

Moreover thanks to its lighting system you will get the chance to ski at night as well.
The capacity of the stadium is about 8.000 spectators and on the track approx. 20.000 can follow the competitions.

There are countless opportunities to discover Val di Fiemme: Skiing, Biking & Cylcing, Hiking, Trekking, Rafting, Flying, Riding, Fishing and much more!

Moreover, Val di Fiemme is a Family Paradise, a valley dedicated to children, but especially to those parents who want to surprise and make them laugh trying new experiences and new sports.
Val di Fiemme hosts and organizes every year a lot of events, for every taste: Marcialonga (Skiing, Cycling and Running), Trofeo Topolino, Lavazeloppet, Dolomiti Ski Jazz, Stava Sky Race, The Clowing Week, The Sounds of the Dolomites, besides of the international events FIS Tour de Ski, FIS Nordic Combined World Cup and Fiemme Rollerski events (World Cup 2014, World Champsionships 2015 and the first marathon in the Dolomites 2017).
