Øystein “Pølsa” Pettersen to focus on long distances
Olympic champion and sprint specialist Øystein “Pølsa” Pettersen decided to make an important move in his career.
After disappointing results in the last two seasons Pettersen put his sprinting career to an end and will focus on long distance competitions. The 31-old skier of Oslo said “yes” to an offer from the professional Team United Bakeries. Pettersen will meet and train again with his former colleagues from the national team, Johan Kjølstad and John Kristian Dahl.
“In recent years I trained hard to break into sprints but it did not happen. Then I lost faith in myself in the sprint and I can not continue another season trainining for something I have lost confidence in,” Øystein Pettersen explained to NRK.
