Øystein ”Pølsa” Pettersen got sick and will not be at the start of today's sprint free in Liberec.

Pettersen is among a few Norwegians who have made it to the podium this season. He clinched third spot in Düsseldorf and was among top favorites in today's race. There are five Norwegian sprinters fighting for four tickets to Oslo 2011 and Liberec was one of qualifying races. In spite of skipping Liberec Pettersen remains optimistic about qualifying for World Championships in Oslo. "There are still many races where I can qualify. I made to the podium in December in Düsselderf but that has been some time," said Pettersen to NRK.

It is not a secret that competition within the Norwegian sprint team is tough. Only Ola Vigen Hattestad has his World Champs spot secure being defending sprint champion from Liberec. Norwegian sprint coach Ulf Morten Aune has plenty of sprinters he can chose from. Dahl, Pettersen, Bransdaal, Kjølstad, Golberg, Tomas Northug or  Haagen Krogh. " It is tough to win a World Champs ticket but it is not impossible. If you make you can be really proud of yourself," concluded Pettersen fot NRK.
