Austrian Rollerski Nationals on Slazburgring
For the first time in history met Austrian Cross-Country skiers for rollerski nationals on motor racing circuit Salzburgring on Sunday, August 29. Nationals offered high speed and curve duels and great atmosphere.
More than 70 skiers took part in the men's 50 km and ladies' 30 km race. One lap was 4,2 km long and men had to circle around 12 times whereas ladies 7 times. "it is very important for us to present Cross-Country skiing also in summer, where we have off-season. Even only a few people associate Cross-Country skiing with summer we had a great race with almost 200 participants" said local organizer Thomas Stöggl to orf.at.
Men's race over 50 km became tactical fight not be too much in front or to stay too much behind. At the end of the day German Erik Hänel proved to be strongest as he captured all bonus sprint victories and claimed the first place. Thomas Ebner finished second and secured the Austrian title ahead of Bernhard Tritscher.
On the ladies' side Katerina Smutna was racing in her own category not letting anybody to threaten her first place.
