Axel Teichmann continues until 2014

Double Olympic silver medalist Axel Teichmann decided to continue his long Cros-Country career and compete until the Olympic Games 2014 in Sochi.

Skier from Bad Lobenstein communicated his decision in the MDR show “Sport im Osten”. Teichmann’s last season was affected by numerous injuries and illnesses. In spite of difficult season the German relay grabbed bonze medal at the World Championships in Oslo and Teichmann at the press conference after the race announced he would end the season and took a break. According to his words he needed to recuperate and think over if he could continue at the highest level of Cross-Country skiing.

Overall FIS Cross-Country World Cup winner from 2004/2005 season wants to continue but has announced changes in training and organization.

Responsibility in training

"I want new ways to reach top results," says Teichmann now. Together with his teammates Tobias Angerer and Jens Filbrich he wants to take over more responsibility in training and pre-season planning. "Our big goal is to reach again with the German relay top medal results at major events," said Teichmann.

Young athletes under Schreyl

The rest of the German men's team with Franz Goering , Tom Reichelt and Tim Tscharnke remain in the training group under Cuno Schreyl.
