Blink festival in Sandses to kick off on Thursday

On Thursday July 19th the Blink Festival 2012 kicks off with Lysebotn opp; a roller skiing 7,5km long competition from Lysebotn and up the winding roads to Øygardstøl/"The Eagles Nest", with the finish line 640 metres above sealevel.

The festival continues on Friday, July 20th. Sprint qualifiers are scheduled at 17:15. At 18:25 ladies will start their 10 km Mass Start competition and two hours later it will be men’s turn over 15 km Mass Start. The festival concludes on Saturday afternoon when sprint quarterfinals start at 18:30.

Organizers prepared rich culture program ranging from music concert of popular band Donkeyboy on Friday evening to football matches and kids events.

International start field

Some of the top Cross-Country skiers are taking part in the Blink Festival 2012. Sprint World Cup winner Kikkand Randall travelled to Norway as well as the French Cross-Country squad with Maurice Manificat and Jean Marc Gaillard and the Norwegian Cross-Country team . The biggest star Marit Bjoergen was forced to withdraw from the festival due to thigh injury because of which she must forget about roller skiing for at least a week.

Blink festival on TV

Norwegian national TV broadcaster NRK will show events of the Blink Festival 2012 from Thursday to Saturday on the first channel NRK1.

In 2011 the Blink Festival was cancelled after two days after the tragedy in Oslo and the island of Utøya.
