While the rest of the Swedish National Cross-Country team is getting ready for Tour de Ski in Oberhof, Calle Halfvarsson woke up with a sore throat Wednesday morning.

"Calle has a cold and won't make it for Tour de Ski. He will fly back home this afternoon" Team Captain Joakim Abrahamsson said.

Calle Halfvarsson is currently ranked 19th in the overall World Cup standings. In November he got his International breakthrough, ending on 4th place in Sjusjöen in 15km free, as well as being part of the Swedish relay team finishing 3rd.

"It would have been really interesting to follow Calle in Tour de Ski. It is a race that should have suited him well because he is versatile, fast and durable and he master the techniques very well. But Calle has a bright future. Now he gets to come home, recover and take some time before the new WC-races that come later in January" Joakim Abrahamsson says.
