Classical Sprint victory in Oberhof for Fessel and Wenzl
Nicole Fessel and Josef Wenzl powered to win in the first competition of German performance tests taking place these days in Oberhof.
Dotzler dominates in the prologue, Wenzl claims victory
First sprint competition of the season over 1500 m in classical technique took place in the ski hall of Oberstdorf with strong international start field featuring Germany's top athletes and Russian Cross-Country squad. Hannes Dotzler laid down the fastest qualification time more than a second faster than the runner up Tim Tscharnke. Josef Wenzl went through with almost a ten second margin and the ninth place.
The quarterfinals system has been modified to standard sprint procedure as only the winner of the heat proceed further and all the others had to wait for their times. The semifinals system went back again to normal. In the finals Josef Wenzl came to victory with a clear gap on Jens Filbrich and third place went to Daniel Heun.
Victory in the ladies' competition for Fessel
Ladies' competition was spiced up by Slovakia's sprint specialist Alena Prochazkova. Nicole Fessel was the quickest already in the qualifying session and edged out to second place Denise Herrmann by 6 seconds. Hanna Kolb took third place in the qualification. Nicole Fessel dominated the finals ahead of Prochazkova and Herrmann.
