As every year, Swiss skiers meet in the first weeks of October in Magglingen for performance tests.

Both distance and sprint athletes of the World Cup teams are undergoing annual tests of capacity, VO2 max, lactate profile or speed tests. “We combine tests with normal training sessions. We are doing these tests twice a year, in May and in October,” head coach Guri Hetland explains.

Dario Cologna happy and optimistic

Swiss' biggest Cross-Country star, Olympic and World Champion, FIS Cross-Country World Cup winner, FIS Tour de Ski winner Dario Cologna is satisfied with treadmill results.

"I'm happy about my results. Naturally they don't guarantee good results in the winter, but thanks to many comparative figures over last years I can see where I am," Cologna explains on his website www.dariocologna.ch.

Is it possible for one of the best Cross-Country skiers to get better? "I could to some increase and maintain my performance level of recent years. It makes me optimistic for the final training phase before the season," Cologna admits.

After the distance skiers, it will be the sprinters turn in Magglingen. Swiss skiers are staying in Magglingen and will be until the end of the week carrying out strength training sessions and roller skiing in the Bern Jura mountains.

On 22nd October the distance skiers are going to Val Senales. Before moving to the north, the Swiss team will be training at home in Davos.
