Dario Cologna powers to victory in Gällivare
Triple FIS Tour de Ski winner and World Cup champion Dario Cologna won today the competition in Gällivare over 15 km Free. "Super Dario" edged out Alexander Legkov by 7 seconds and set the new track record on the course of Hellner stadium. Cologna's compatriot Curdin Perl took third place.
"I'm very happy with today's race. The conditions in Gällivare are absolutely perfect and I'm really looking forward to the World Cup premiere," Cologna said
Chief of competition Lars-Gunnar Pettersson was very happy with the competition and looks forward to the World Cup season opening. .
"It will be really exciting to see the fight between Dario and Marcus Hellner next weekend. Marcus has won the World Cup opener in Gällivare the last two times, " Pettersson claimed.
"I know it's Marcus' home and it will be difficult to beat him here, but I've been training well and this was a good first indicator of the shape, the goal is to beat Marcus and the rest of the world at the World Cup premiere," Dario Cologna previewed.
Ladies' competition was won by Caroline Andersson of Gellivare Ski Alliance.
