It was my first race at the U23 Championships and first victory. I am very happy. Track was very well prepared. It was tough fight with others. Conditions were not easy. With wind and snowfall it was very challenging. Conditions were same for everybody. On January 24th it was my birthday. My coach told me I have to give a present to me myself. I am very thankful for his support.

It was simply the Russian day today. I am happy for the whole team. Beautiful day as Gennadiy took bronze. I started a bit slowly at the beginning  and built up the pace. Fans along the course were just perfect. They were chearing and shouting and created great atmosphere. I must say I was lucky with the snowfall. You know, when I finished my race it started to snow. It slowed down those who were still on course.
