After yesterday’s sprint victory of Sergey Ustiugov U23 skiers will hit the course and fight for U23 World Titles in sprint.

Qualification of the ladies starts at 10:00 LOC. Men will start their qualifying round at 10:35 LOC.

Start order

Start order of the qualification is based on sprint points. Athletes without sprint points will be seeded according to distance points. Those participants without any points were drawn.

Brodin biggest favorite

On the ladies we cannot find bigger medal hope and favorite for victory than Hanna Brodin. The young Swede was excellent last weekend and only Petra Majdic of Slovenia beat her. Brodin is particularly strong in her upper body and last 300 m before the finish suit her very well. She can attack from behind and grab victory. Second big favorite is Denise Hermann of Germany. The youngster from Oberwiesenthal finished last weekend 21st. Kerttu Niskanen is the U23 World Champion from Hinterzarten over 10 km Classic and can surprise today. Mari Elde of Norway or Jennie Oeberg of Sweden have competed at World Cups and should make it through to the quarterfinal and even further. 41 ladies will be at the start of today’s qualifying session.

On the men’s Alexander Panzhinskiy of Russia is the biggest favorite for victory. The Russian scored 8th place in the sprint qualification last weekend but finished 26th. Calle Halfvarsson of Sweden and Len Valjas of Canada have bibs number 2 and 3 and are counted among the big medal hopes.
