Warm weather is causing problem for Organizers of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup in Jakuszyce/Szklarska Poreba (POL), which is scheduled on 18th-19th January.

The Organizing Committee stays optimistic

The warm weather, rain and mild wind has melted some of the snow from the stadium and course. The Organizing Committee, however, stays positive. “We are sure we will be ready with all the courses, stadium and other facilities for the teams to arrive after Nove Mesto,” Jacek Jaskowiak, head of the LOC said to FIS Cross-Country News.

The Organizing committee collected snow from the surrounding areas of the Jakuszyce Cross-Country venue and brought it by truck to the stadium. “The weather forecast is optimistic as we should get almost 40cm of new snow in the upcoming week,” Jaskowiak said.

Big spectators interest

Poland loves Cross-Country Skiing and its super star Justyna Kowalczyk. When the FIS Cross-Country World Cup came to Poland for the first time two years ago, thousands of spectators were on site and millions of TV viewers watched the home victory of Kowalczyk on TV. The Organizing Committee expects even more spectators this year. “We have sold more than 3,000 tickets in advance. The number is growing every day. We have also invited many ski clubs and other sport enthusiasts,” Kinga Jaworek from the Organising Committee  said to FIS Cross-Country News.
