Jens Filbrich had to sit out the opening race of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup season in Sjusjoen due to cold.

The skier from Oberhof is health again and will be starting this Friday in the opening competition of Ruka Triple in Kuusamo. On the ladies’ side the German national coach Jochen Behle signed the same five ladies as in Sjusjoen. Sprint specialists Daniel Heun, Josef Wenzl, Lucia Anger, Hanna Kolb and Sandra Ringwald have stayed longer in Sjusjoen with their coach Stefan Dotzler to get ready for the sprint weekend in Düsseldorf.

Finding the right track

Behle did not have many positive words about the season opener in Sjusjoen. “We do not have to beat around the bush. The season opener in Sjusjoen was everything but what we had planned. We also have to accept that other nations were better,” Behle said.

In spite of sub-par performance he is looking towards Kuusamo with optimism. “Now it’s time to look forward and be back in Kuusamo in the right track,” the head coach commented.
