Johaug returns to World Cup with a victory - UPDATED
After a one week absence from the FIS World Cup circuit Norway's Therese Johaug returned with a victory in the 10 km free technique interval start competition in Nove Mesto, Cze. It was one of the closer ladies' podiums this season with just 9.3 seconds separating the top 3. Following up on her second place finish in last weekend's sprint competition in Planica, Astrid Jacobsen of Norway was second again today +4.6 seconds behind Johaug. Recording her second individual World Cup podium this season was the USA's Jessie Diggins +9.3 seconds back. Sweden's Charlotte Kalla was just +4.2 seconds out of third.
The ladies will be back in action tomorrow in the 4 x 5 km team relay. Looking at today's results it should be a great fight for the relay podium with 4 Germans in the top 25, 4 Americans in the top 28, 4 Finns in the top 12 and 4 Norwegians in the top 6.
