Norway's Therese Johaug has put in another impressive performance to earn her 16th victory of the season on stage 2 of the Ski Tour Canada in Montréal.  She is now one win away from equalling Marit Bjoergen for the most wins in one season.  Johaug completed the 10.5 km classic technique course in a time of 30:05.6.

The mass start competition took place in Parc du Mont-Royal (George Etienne Cartier Monument), the oldest skiing site in Canada dating back to 1879, right in the heart of Quebec’s largest city. It was at this same place that the legendary Montreal Ski Club was founded.

In second place +1:00.3 behind Johaug was her teammate Heidi Weng and in third place also from Norway was Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen +1:09.8 back.  It was another strong day for the Norwegian ladies with Maiken Caspersen Falla taking 4th position, and Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg in 6th.  Poland's Justyna Kowalczyk continued her return to top form with a 5th place finish, and Finland placed three ladies in the top 12.

ATHLETES QUOTES

Therese Johaug, NOR
I started from the 4th row as bib 27. There were many girls ahead of me. It was not easy to move to the front but I am really happy I could go to the lead. My shape was great and I felt I could push hard the whole way. I wanted to win as many seconds as possible ahead of the sprint in Québec.

Heidi Weng, NOR
My plan was to go fast from the weekend. I hoped that Astrid and I could win some seconds on Therese. But Astrid got tired so I skied alone. It was a good race but I lost a lot of seconds Therese. I have to improve in distance competitions.

Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen, NOR
The track was really hard today, it was also very windy. I had great skis.
