Therese Johaug of Norway has done what only two other female skiers have done in the history of the FIS World Cup Cross-Country and won 14 competitions in one season.  With her victory today in the 10 km free technique mass start she joined the great Bente Skari (2002/03) with 14 wins.  Only Marit Bjoergen has won more in one season and she has done it twice winning 17 times in the 2011/12 season and 15 times last season.

Johaug won in a time of 23:28.0 ahead of her teammate Heidi Weng by +8.8 seconds, who she pulled away from the final time up the Mörderbacken and skied on her own to the finish.  Completing the Norwegian sweep of the podium was Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen +13.9 behind Johaug.

The USA's Jessie Diggins put in her second top 5 performance of the weekend with a strong 4th place finish +29.0 back from the lead.  Sweden's Maria Rydqvist excited the home crowd with a photo finish for 5th place ahead of Norway Ragnhild Haga as she led in the main pack.

ATHLETE QUOTES

Therese Johaug NOR

I wanted to push really hard from the beginning today and see how many were able to come with me.  In the end it was just Heidi and I pushed one more time going up the Mörderbacken because I didn't want to have to be in a sprint at the finish.  It's been an amazing season so far.  I really can't believe I have won so many races.

Heidi Weng NOR

I was nervous for the mass start with all the others but Therese started like it was a sprint so there weren't many of us from the beginning.  I tried to stay with her as long as I could but my legs started to get stiff and I just focused on my technique to make sure that I still got to the finish in second place.

Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen NOR

I had a great battle with Jessie Diggins.  We actually had some cooperation on the first lap. I have never really had that before.  She told me that she would take the lead on the big downhill and then we start to catch Ingvild in the stadium and Jessie went by her quickly and I hesitated and Jessie got away but I was able to catch her on the Mörderbacken and I pushed again on the final climb to stay ahead of her.
