Kalla class of field at Swedish Champs in Skiathlon. Hellner wins UPDATED

Charlotte Kalla easily handled the field on of the first day of the Swedish Championships with a dominant win in the 7.5/7.5 km Skiathlon.  Marcus Hellner managed to hold off Lars Nelson in a sprint finish in the men's 15/15 km Skiathlon in win in Umeá, Sweden.  

Kalla's winning time of 39:23.4 bested the field by +1:46.9 seconds.  In second place was Maria Rydqvist who was in third for much of the competition and overtook Sofia Bleckur in a photo finish at the line. Bleckur finished third +1:47.0 behind Kalla and just +0.1 behind Rydvist.  

Early on in the men's 30 km Skiathlon a lead group of three formed which included Hellner, Nelson and Daniel Richardsson.  They remained together until the final kilometers when Richardsson was unable to match the pace of Hellner and Larson.  In the end Hellner hung on for the win just ahead of Larson by +0.3.  Hellner's winning time of 1:13:19.7 was +16.2 ahead of Richardsson who claimed third place.
