Korosteleva and Vittoz are Military Champions
In Cogne, in the Aosta valley, the Winter Military World Games are currently held. Today, the 10km (ladies ) and 15km (men) Cross-Country individual start races in free technique took place. The victory on the ladies side went to Natalia Korosteleva who finished the course in a time of 28:13 min. The runner-up in this race was the Norwegian Kari Eie Henneseid with a gap of 30 seconds to Korosteleva. The podium comleted the home favourite Marianna Longa.
The World Cup skier Vincent Vittoz decided the 15 km race in a time of 32:18 min for himself. The French skier finished 19 seconds ahead of Toni Livers from Switzerland whilst Giorgio Di Centa took the third spot, 32 seconds behind the winners.
"I am very happy to have gained this bronze medal," stated Giorgio Di Centa, "and I am very happy to have given a podium to my team. It is fundamental for us athletes of winter sports to have the chance to enter a military corps, to follow the victory in big international events. In this season I lost the Olympic medal but I gained the first victory in the world cup in my carrier and today a bronze medal at Winter Military World Games arrives".
