Official release from Vuokatti Scandinavian Cups

Marthe Kristoffersen (NOR) and Emil Iversen (NOR) won the free technique distance competitions on the final day of the Scandinavian Cups in Vuokatti (FIN).  Kristoffersen stormed to victory by 21.7 seconds ahead of Kathrine Harsem (NOR) who had won the previous two days. Iversen took his second win in Vuokatti by 7.5 seconds ahead of Martin Johansson (SWE).

Kristoffersen is making a strong comeback to top level competition after suffering from a long term virus. She was 27th in the recent World Cup event in Lillehammer and has continued well here in Vuokatti. The smiling Norwegian says she is taking small steps forward.”It feels good to be back! Yesterday the classic race was bad, I am not so good in double polling which you need to do on this course. Today it was nice to ski”, says Kristoffersen who caught double winner Kathrine Harsem on last lap and worked with her until the end.

Iversen, who won the sprint on Friday and finished second in 15 km classic yesterday took the victory today.  “Another good race for me. The last lap I run ‘all in’, and that was good. I didn’t expect this kind of weekend at all. This is very surprising for me. I hope I can go to Tour de Ski now, but we’ll see”, said a happy Iversen.

The FIS Scandinavian Cup continues in Skellefteå (SWE) January 4–6th.  Iversen and Harsem are leaders in total standings after the first 3 races.
