Czech Cross-Country skiers are looking forward to the upcoming FIS Cross-Country World Cup, the traditional Golden Ski in Nove Mesto na Morave. After the Czech nationals they have stayed in Nove Mesto and have been getting ready for the World Cup action in front of the home crowds.

“There’s not much left to do, on Tuesday and Wednesday we will train and on Friday there is a warm up as always before any World Cup,“ says Lukas Bauer, the biggest hope of the Czech team for a podium. “I was quite afraid of the new tracks but after all it was not that bad. New sections go very well together with traditional parts in the Ochoza forest. Good things is the courses are very wide,” Bauer ads.

World’s best Cross-Country skiers including Northug, Hellner, Cologna, Kowalczyk or Bjoergen are heading to Nove Mesto. “We are expecting approx. 169 skiers from 20 nations,” LOC chief Ladislav Slonek said.

On Saturday, 30 km mass start classic will be featuring Bauer, Jakš, Magál and Hořčička, there will be ten more Czechs in the national group.

On the ladies’ side the Czech team will be relying on experienced duo Janečková, Nývltová. Czech champion from last weekend Martin Charstkova will join them on Saturday in 15 km mass start classic.
