Olympic and World Championships medalist, 2-time FIS Tour de Ski champion, Overall World Cup winner Lukas Bauer of the Czech Republic has announced he continues on the World Cup and aims for a medal at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti, 2017.

“Due to health problems I had last winter I could not finish my career as I had hoped. I said to myself, this is not how I want to end,” Lukas Bauer said to the Czech media.

Bauer jumped in the World Cup last winter very late, having the first World Cup competition of the season as late as in Nove Mesto. At the end of the winter at Ski Tour Canada he showed some good results, something what played a role in changing the decision. “The plan is to compete in 2-3 World Cups. The big goal at the World Championships is 15 km classic and relay. I would like to repeat my American dream. It may sound crazy but I want a medal,” Bauer stated.

Beside competing on the World Cup Bauer manages a long distance team.
