Maiken Caspersen Falla and Emil Joensson won sprint qualifier in Drammen

Maiken Caspersen Falla was quickest today in the Srint 1.2 km Free qualifier in Drammen.

The young Norwegian won the prologue in the time 2:16.57 and edged out Magda Genuin of Italy to second place. Flying Hanna Falka is qualified with the third best time. All big names are through to the quarterfinal. Kikkan Randall is 6th Marit Bjoergen is 7th, Arianna Follis 10th, Petra Majdic 16th and Justyna Kowalczyk 22nd.

Emil Joensson dominated the qualifying session of the men’s sprint 1.6 km Free. Joensson won with 3:00.03. Runner up Federico Pellegrino of Italy lost +0.39 sec and will wear number 2 in the quarterfinal. Andy Newell of USA was third fastest and lost more than a second on Joensson. Petter Northug is through with seventh best time as well as his younger brother Thomas with 21st quickest time. Great Britain’s Andrew Musgrave is the first outside top 30 and lost a ticket to quarterfinal by only 0.05 sec.

First Ladies quarterfinal heat starts at 14:30 CET.
